Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Access, Research, and Learning Services, the Instruction Coordinator and Information Literacy Librarian will have broad knowledge and experience in effectively developing, managing, providing, and assessing instruction and outreach services. This position is responsible for managing, assigning, and evaluating all library instruction activities and promoting information literacy throughout the Boca Raton Campus. The successful candidate for this position will design, facilitate, and assess orientations to library services and resources for students and faculty, utilizing events, instructional workshops, digital tutorials, social media, and other innovative approaches to increase awareness and engagement.
Essential Functions:
- Plan, develop, implement, market, and assess the Libraries’ instruction programs.
- Coordinate and schedule instruction activities with the team of library teaching faculty.
- Keep abreast of new developments in instructional technologies, online pedagogy, virtual resources and tools.
- Provide library instruction, reference service, and collection development activities in designated disciplines.
- Collaborate with the Libraries’ Liaison Coordinator, academic liaisons, and University colleagues as required to initiate and maintain projects to promote information literacy, awareness of open educational resources, and research education on campus.
- Create, share, and assess online learning modules in the Learning Management System (LMS) for information literacy skills.
- Keep up with trends in instructional technologies and head initiatives to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into information literacy instruction.
- Stay up to date with emerging digital platforms and tools and recommend new technologies that can strengthen library instruction.
- Train academic liaisons in best practices in conducting scoping reviews and active learning instructional sessions.
- Support continuous improvement of instruction and research services through data-informed decision making.
- Coordinate with the Center for Online Learning to support online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced instruction and outreach initiatives.
- Collect, organize, and analyze research consultation statistics to support assessment, reporting, and strategic planning.
- Design and deliver information literacy instruction and research support for a wide range of learners, including first-generation, veterans, undergraduates, graduate students, and doctoral researchers.
- Maintain statistics on library instruction and create reports as needed.
- Participate in outreach services to promote faculty, student, researchers, and staff engagement with Open Educational Resources, Scholarly Publishing, Open Pedagogy and Digital Commons initiatives.
- Participate in Libraries’ liaison program including development and review of research guides in assigned discipline.
- Support the Libraries’ Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other strategic initiatives.
- Support efforts to maintain R1/Top 100 status for the University and the Libraries.
- Develop an annual professional development plan.
- Investigate opportunities to carry out, publish, and present original scholarship, research, and scholarly projects related to the area of expertise or responsibility.
- Serve on appropriate Libraries, University, regional, state or national committees including professional committees, and actively participate in Libraries’ and campus faculty governance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in academic or special libraries with liaison responsibilities.
- Demonstrates ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team member and team leader where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
