Information Literacy Librarian New

Responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of the following major library activities: information literacy instruction and tools and research services. Participates in library assessment planning and data collection. With other professional staff, sets library-wide policies, determines library directions, and develops appropriate performance measures.

- Lead, present, and coordinate library information literacy instruction. Work with faculty to provide information literacy sessions.
- Participate in library assessment activities including planning, measurement, and analysis of data. Evaluates the effectiveness of library resources and services assessment and provides recommendations.
- Participate in digital and print collection development activities, and act as library liaison with the faculty in assigned academic areas.
- Lead reference staffing and tracking. Provide reference assistance to students, faculty, staff and community patrons.
- Develop, update, and publish information literacy guides and other resources in all formats for the Franco Library.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Train and manage a graduate assistant to populate and monitor all aspects of the library’s social media presence.
- Hire, train and supervise the library’s Graduate Assistants.
- Maintain library's webpage.
- Assist with technical services operations.
- Educate and assist faculty with Open Educational Resources (OER).
- Engage with the university community through committee work, displays, service activities, etc.
- Create and maintain library’s information literacy video collection.
Qualification/Education:
- Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Alvernia University.
- A master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution.
- Academic library experience in reference services, information literacy instruction, and library assessment and data collection.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff; utilizes excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to adapt and lead in a changing library environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
- Ability to effectively supervise student workers.
